Help the next generation discover the goodness of God.
What if you could help a child discover that they belong, that God loves them, and that following Jesus makes a difference to their everyday life?
At St John’s Park, we believe children aren’t just the future of the church — they’re an important part of our church family today.
Our children’s and youth groups are made possible by a wonderful team of volunteers who give their time, energy and creativity to help our youngest members grow in faith.
We’re looking for some more people to join us, particularly in our two younger age groups.
Park Tots
Pre-school children
Led by Claire Smith, Park Tots is all about discovering God’s goodness through play.
Through stories, crafts, games and imaginative activities, our youngest children have opportunities to explore faith in ways that make sense to them.
At the moment, parents need to stay with their children during sessions. We’d love to grow the team so that parents can have the opportunity to remain in the service, listen to the sermon and participate more fully in worship, knowing their children are being cared for and nurtured.
With a few more volunteers willing to learn how to run sessions, we could make that possible.
Park Kids
Reception to Year 5
Park Kids is a place where children can have a shed-load of fun while discovering what following Jesus might mean for their friendships, school and home lives.
Each session includes games, Bible stories, creative activities and opportunities to explore faith together.
We’ve recently reduced the age range of this group, allowing us to focus more closely on the needs of our younger primary-aged children.
We already have a fantastic team, but they’re currently serving more frequently than they’d like.
By joining them, you could help us share the responsibility more widely and build a sustainable ministry that nurtures our children’s faith for years to come.
You wouldn’t be expected to know everything or lead sessions on your own. Our experienced volunteers would love to help you develop your confidence and discover how you could contribute.
Could you be part of the story?
You don’t need to be an expert in children’s ministry.
We believe that one of the most important things our children can experience is being surrounded by ordinary people whose lives are being shaped by Jesus.
Your presence, encouragement and example might make a lasting difference to a child’s journey of faith.
Whether you love crafts, storytelling, games, helping behind the scenes or simply spending time with children, there may be a place for you.
All volunteers receive appropriate safeguarding checks and training.
Please pray
Please pray for our children’s and youth teams, and for every child and young person at St John’s Park.
Pray that they would know the goodness of the Father, the transforming power of the Holy Spirit, and the fullness of life that Jesus offers.
And please prayerfully consider whether you could join us.
Even if you’re unsure whether children’s ministry is for you, Kirsty, our Children and Families Minister, would love to have a conversation about how you might get involved.
